Addon Spotlight - AVR
It's time for another spotlight! This time I would like to point out a fairly new addon called AVR (Augmented Virutal Reality) and AVR Encounters. This addon will let you draw markings on the 3D world anywhere and share it with anyone! This is incredibly useful for any raid leader, but it's not the only feature.

Some of these drawings can be automatized and triggered by spells and NPCs, this is how you get AVR Encounters! This submod adds warnings and very noticeable visual helps for for various boss abilities.

Link to the article here.

Check it out!

i downloaded this and tried it out a bit in a 10 man ICC today...its realy realy good...still playing with it so ive not got everything working yet.

the range checker is the best bit imo...no longer a box with chars names but with this you get a circle around your char and warnings if anyone is in it.

this would be realy good for the whole raid to have so you can mark possitions with out the use of smoke ect...could come in realy handy, but everyone would need it to get the most out of it and from what ive read it can be a bit hungry on memory.

Looks interesting... reckon it's any use for raiders (as in non-raid-leaders)? i'll try it out next time i log on just to see what it can do though...

It is of use to none raid leader as its shows you info in the form of arrows or circles to show what you need to run away from ect.

Like i sed in an earlier post it realy is idiot proof and makes things alot easier so you can get on with watchig raid frame/getting your rotation right.

It seems like this would be very useful for professor putricide on 25 man with the malleable goo. If it is not targetted on you but you get the 'malleable goo near you' warning it can be hard to immediately see which direction to run, a big red circle on the ground would make this... idiot proof? I suggest we all get it and give it a try.

The malleable goo warning works quite well, last try on him i only got hit once(and died:P)
but that was only coz it gives you 2 circles on the ground and i wasnt sure what if both were bad, turns out they are, i guess both are where its going to hit/bounce.

Well... tried this out last night, and it is good. A bit confusing in the beginning though - maleable goo shows two sets of circles on the floor, blue and red, red is bad to stand in but blue, i am not so sure what it is, i guess a little more practice and i'll have it figured out... also it adds to the chaos that i have on my screen on that encounter, but nevertheless i like it, and it did help me improve my reaction time to professors quirks :)
All in all - a good addon to have by all means.

Havent downloaded it, plan to sometimes next week once Ive sorted out some other addons.

Only problem I see is how spammy its been in the last few runs, once we get over the OMAGOH COOL FACTOR and use it just like dbm, should be awesome.

Bad news for the ppl that used this mod:

Quote:
This is a notice that we’re making changes in 3.3.5 in attempts to break the ability for the AVR (Augmented Virtual Reality) mod to continue functioning. For those unaware, this mod allows players to draw in the 3D space of the game world, which can then be shared with others who are also using the mod. In some cases this manifests itself through drawing/tagging/defacing the game world, but more popularly is used to give visual guides for dungeon and raid encounters.

We’re making this change for two reasons. The invasive nature of a mod altering and/or interacting with the game world (virtually or directly) is not intended and not something we will allow. World of Warcraft UI addons are never intended to interact with the game world itself. This is mirrored in our stance and restriction of model and texture alterations. The second reason is that it removes too much player reaction and decision-making while facing dungeon and raid encounters. While some other mods also work to this end, we find that AVR and the act of visualizing strategy within the game world simply goes beyond what we’re willing to allow.

The change we’re making in attempts to break the functionality is light in its touch and approach. When blocking any functionality we run the risk of affecting other mods, but we’ve targeted the changes as carefully as possible. If we find that the AVR mod (or any mod attempting to replicate its functions) are usable after 3.3.5 we will take further, more drastic steps.

I was actually afraid that if I used it I could get banned so I didn't download it, but seems they're just going to disable the mod.
