Thanks for the reasearch and the input Uly.
As to your builds, this is very important, tenfold when we have 4 or 4 or even 5 mages in the raid. Remember you should account for about 30-40% of the overall damage output and last night it was more like 18-20%. This is bad because it prolomgs the fight by a huge amount. So at least until Alar is on full farm status, I would like our mages to go qith a mor suitable build, as Ulysse pointed out. If you are unwilling thats ok, but make sure you make it clear to us so we know where we stand and can plan ahead.
As for the other stuff, lately I have been dissapointed, to say the least, in the effort our raiding members are willing to put into the raids. Before anyone starts jumping, I am not talking about everyone, but generalizing, since it seems to be about 50% that are going all out, and the rest that are half coasting through the runs. Especially on progress runs, with new bosses, we need to maximize our output in all and any ways posible, and if you dont know by now, this can be the single most important factor that will make the difference between "WOOOOOOOWTFPWND>>AS@@#$K#)...Good job!!!!!"
or ".............sigh......another wipe". I have spent the last week wiping over and over in ZA and TK and never think twice of using the buff food or Flask. If you think its hard, then believe it will be 10 times harder if we dont do our best.
The most frustrating thing for me the last 2 nights on Alar is that I know for a fact that we have the capability to do it, and yet we go home empty handed. We shouldnt get discouraged, and 2 short nights on a new boss really isnt anything that much. We have just gotten a bit spoiled maybe after getting most new ones after 3 or 4 tries.
Point of all this being - if you want to be art of it, get online, go do your dailies instead of wanking around, get mats for flasks and send them to me to make you them (I can sometimes proc extras - up to x5) and make sure youre ready before even considering joining the raid.
This is for everyone - not directied at the mages btw.
Actually Ill move it.

Nah Sem,
I dont think so.
Alar will be down and on farm when you get back 8)

so you will have to help with other bosses

to be honost that night i was a bit disapointed that night that the dmg out put from alot of people is extreemly low compared to some fellow members who are equal geared and do twice more dmg.

i dont know if people are to scared or are to proud to ask some one in there opinion who is a good example for a certain class to ask for some advice to inprove your dps becaus if every one do that than or progress runs would be so much easyer and BETTER!!.
becaus if the dps is to low the fight take to long and healers will run out of mana or boss hit harder on the tank and it will result on a wipe.

if every one do the same amount of dmg we can highly posseble kill every week a new boss like alot of other guilds i wanna do hyal and bt aswell, like alot of other people i know i can see from them they trying there best for it to reach that goal.

hope full every one got the same taughts here or atleast try there best and start asking for some advice on dmg rotations or healing addons or tank stuff, tips and tricks or what ever to your classleader or a person who you think is the best to ask (sugested your classleader)

classleaders are there for a reason they got chooced to support there class members and provide them with the help or tips and tricks but we classleaders can't smell every thing if you need help step up and ask for it.
beside that most classleaders are also the active's of there class and are good in what they need to do

and it only give you a good name if you ask something becaus the class leader sees oke you exacly trying to inprove your self but asking is not enough try also to show what you learned and keep that up

well i have to say this was good to read cos i was to pissed off to wipe again and again on a'lar last week...
its true we have the level for downing him, and i strongly believe too that we dont optimize our dps output so far...
as far as im concerned i've taken advices, asked michael and tom a few questions about how to maximise my dps, thats why i spent 700g last weekin gems and why i dont think twice also in getting aother flask if the 1st one is down... if some peeps dont do that, itsd the whole group that will suffer from it cos some ppl will have to compensate the lack of others and the whole performance of the group will be lessened.
i believe if everyone do efforts we really can do it... so yeah use macros, respec if necessary, btw i will if we need another hunter specced in survival, i'd b glad to do it if u think that it'll help the group's overall dps...

That is quite interesting, I looked at the healing charts and noticed that pretty much all the healers in that raid had a far more aggressive attitude towards healing than I do, I was always of the mentality that you minimise overhealing as it is a waste of mana.

I tried to be more forward and pro-active in my healing during our tries on Al'ar though, but there is a mental barrier to overcome as it seems strange having to be deliberately inefficient with healing.

i know what you meen. i always was topping healing meter.. and far down the overhealing meter pre-tbc and in kara.. bud when healing in 25 mans. its a must to have people spamming the tank even tho he might be on 100%.

i dont like to do it with my paladin.. i reather heal an offtank or something.

i found this on website and found it interesting as its not what we did during the tries we had against him :

A nifty trick we found last night for killing Al'ar (finally, the bird goes down!) was to ignore the adds in Phase 2 pretty much. We had a paladin tank all the adds while DPS just focused on Al'ar itself. Hunter's misdirected onto the paladin and the spare warrior tanks from Phase 1 (the one (s) with the debuff at the time) would drag any spares into the paladins consecrate. All the adds despawn when Al'ar dies so there's not even any issues with dealing with them at the end.

We killed Al'ar for the first time last night using a similar strategy, though at the start of phase 2 we try to pick off some of the birds if we can because each little birdie killed drops the big birdie's health some. We don't kill them all together, just focus down 1 at a time to keep the explosion damage healable. (20k HP fully raid buffed, mostly in badge and Kara gear, no T5 and only 1 pc T4)

5/6 SSC 3/4 TK now, time to force everything down in SSC tonight for Vashj attempts tomorrow ;)
