Post subject:  After the Earthquake - Addons post 3.0.2

The addons community woke up to quite a shock after 3.0.2 hit.
Both http://www.wowace.com and http://www.cosmosui.org have announced that they will not longer be continuing, wowace due to bandwidth issues and cosmosui due to a lack of developers.

Most of the addons that used to live on wowace have moved to http://www.curse.com, so if you're used to using Omen and the like then all you have to do is hop over to the curse website and download them.
With cosmos we are less lucky; with their dropout in coders many addons haven't been updated for the patch and others may soon become unsupported.

If like me you used to use a few of the cosmos addons, I've started to compile a list of replacements:

Altoholic
This is a replacement for the character viewer.
Alas the option to upload your character to the roster on the guild website is not there, but the features in Altoholic itself are miles above what Character Viewer provided. I love this one.

Bunny's Quest Level
A replacement for the Quest Level addon. Seems to be 100% identical.

Prat
A replacement for taste the namebow.
Not only does it give you the option to colour people's names, but this addon also has useful features such as adding people's level next to their name.
A huge improvement on taste the namebow, but bare in mind that Prat is still in Beta - don't activate any of the "Extra Options" otherwise you'll crash your copy of WoW.

Altoholic one of the best and practical addons i ever used , much better than Character Viewer .

Other possible replacements for cosmos (I miss that addon - had it since I started playing :( ):

Redrange - colours the whole spell icon when you're out of range
LoadIT - does the reload ui thing (thanks mich!)
X-perl - does a lot of the UI functions, though I find the pictures and fonts a little unclear. Fluidframes from Cosmos has been updated and at the moment I'm combining that with X-perl so I can mix the player/target settings between Xperl and blizzard normal. X-perl does kind of do the same as some of the bits in Cosmos Unitbuffs and Unittweaks as well.
Omnicc - replacement for Cooldown Count
CT-Core - replaces the cosmos moveable tooltip, plus quest levels in the log. If anyone knows of a replacement for Partyquests (simple list of quests which gave detail when clicked on rather than horrid blizz squashed quest list) you will have my undying love.

Other dead addons and replacements for mages include:
Arcanum - cryolysis has apparently been updated for the patch which is a sort of inferior replacement. Unfortunately I can't get cryolysis to work either
Naturenemycastbar - the polymorph bit can be replaced by Sheepwatch, and the scorch timer bit by Scorchio.

If any mage wants an addon which announces hot streak proccing (yay instant pyro!) then MikScrollingBattleText works well. It also can play sounds for crit so never again will you miss that sneaky extra fireblast crit at the end of combusion.

Just type
Code:
/script ReloadUI()

to reload your UI. No need for an addon to do that!

Thanks for telling me about OmniCC though - I'd been missing cooldown count!
I'll go download it and give it a go!

Yup but the reloadui addon thingy helpfully lets you turn on and off addons without logging out. Found it much quicker last night to test things out than the old way. Especially when so many of my addons didn't like raiding :(

On the cooldown counter, I'm now not entirely sure I like that it puts a counter on the debuffs on the target frame as well, as it covers the icon. Probably just cos I got set in my ways with cosmos, but I might also see what other cooldown counters are out there.
