Post subject:  Priest Builds in the next patch

There's a rumour going round on the internets that we'll be getting the WOTLK talent updates in a patch. Possibly soon.

So I want to open the flood gates and start thinking about builds to use after the patch, but before level 80 is unlocked.

Here's an attempted build for a Spirit Buff Priest, which requires level 70:
http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=bEh0zhhdbxZctt0cbVcZh

I've spent 5 talent points on grinding talents, then gone for the spellpower talents from Discipline, then gone for the spellpower and spell healing talents from the Holy tree.

What are your thoughts?
Feel free to post your own builds.

I kind of meant level 70 builds, but yeah that's cool.

Dispersion seems very nice - a mana regen and an emergency way to avoid dying all rolled into one.

I had another go at improving this:

http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=bEh0zhhdrxZctt0cbqc

It's a Smite spec/Healing build aimed at raiding. For soloing, take the last 3 points out of Holy and put them into Shadow.

I've been playing around with this spec for my priest :

http://thottbot.com/wotlk/priest/t#EbM1/uhPcIQh.T

however, baaad news.

CoH now requires u to be in spirit of redemption, as does Guardian Spirit!

/cry
but apparently u can get an inscription that gives you a 20 % chance when casting each heal while in spirit of redemption, to let your spirit of redemption form continue for 20 more seconds. imagine if u can like forever be in spirit of redemption then :b Niiice i say

No, that's rubbish.
Lightwell required Spirit of Redemption, but you only need to know the talent - you don't need to be dead to cast it!
And CoH requires neither, seems someone did a copy and paste mistake. Thottbot is full of typos.

But anyway, that's a nice Holy build ^_^;;

Remember that most of your mana comes from your intelligence, not your base. So 24% of your base is not very much.
It's about 600 Mana at level 70, and about 900 at level 80.

I've made a few PVE Shadow priest specs which i think are pretty good.

This is the spec I'd use:
http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=bVMhzhZZGcfVRfzsVqfzAo

And a slightly more mana efficient but lower dps spec is:
http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=bVMhzhZZGcfVRfzsVqfzAo

Although personally i think the new shadow priest specs are more than mana efficient enough so I'd use the first one.

Nb. Shadow Priests are becoming gods

Yes this is crazy , now i am leveling and this is very easy, tho u don't need to get all 3 points into this 60% (2 points ) is enough in "Pain and Suffering" while leveling ,

I think Shadow Priests have had their DPS buffed to make up for the fact that their raid utility has now been nerfed.

The mana boost from Vampiric Touch has been quite heavily hit - and it's also been given to two other classes as well.
So no-one's going to take a Shadow Priest just because of the mana regen any more. You've got to do more DPS to be as attractive to the raid; hence the DPS boost.

If im going shadow at 80 (Very likely, since they're uber leet) my spec will look somethin like this i think .

Please leave comments if u got improvements ;D

I've been looking at disc as a viable raid healing spec, been playing around a bit and not sure what to think, so far i can say that its fine in every 5 man I've been in(which is all of them), but im not sure how it would do in raids - I'd like to give it a try, its just that with it being pvp based, its alot more aimed to have burst heals so I don't know... but its perfectly fine in terms of healing, and stats are also increased(including mp5/spl power).

Here is the spec I'm thinking of http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=bVIbzhhtrxoVbRtbxtcc

If it dosnt work out then my holy build is stuck between http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=bVcbzhZfxxcc0qVuVIst

and

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=bVcbzhZfxxcc0qVuVIst (or holy reach instead of healing prayers)

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=bVhbzhZcxtcc0qihVIst ?
The only thing i'm abit sad about is maybe not getting that reduced mana cost on instant casts, seeing that spec will give PoM a 7 sec CD, and we ofc have CoH!
Also, the less interruption thingy upper row, holy tree. Uve got to ask urself is 2% crit better or is loosing some cast time better ? Seeing that of course, most priests would die if hit in raids.
I still haven't found the answer for this question.

Post subject:  Re: Priest Builds in the next patch

Dont know if your still pondering that question rag, but I'd say the cast reduction time is much better than 2% crit.

My first philosophy is: If a heal is timed well and it crits, then it is often a overheal.

And the fact is: Many bosses in WoTLK have auras/raid attacks which are gonna slow down your casting, and i've seen times where .5 of a second is too long.

If raid damage or auras are active on a boss, I'd imagine your overall hps will be greater than that of having 2% exta crit doing maybe 2-4k more healing, if you opt for cast reduction.

--Also Tom I'd suggest this build to be honest.

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=bVIbzhhzbZfxtcc0qihVuo

Inner Fire now also gives spell power at level 80, and quite a bit aswell, so the increase is nice. And I think having the mana regen if you overheal is much better in raids that increased healing on targets below 50% health. This is because if someone drops on health that low, i think you can assume that there are gonna be a few heals stacked up on that target anyway, but its still a good talent.

Also you may want to take into account that CoH is soon getting a 6 second CD.
