Post subject:  Blizzard AOE circle

Hurrah I'm not going mad, it really had vanished - Blizzard have apparently disabled temporarily the big blue circle that appeared on the ground whilst blizzard was casting, showing where damage could be done, see below. The good news is they are hoping to bring it back:

Post from MMO-Champion:

Were the ground effects triggered by Rain of Fire and Blizzard (each would create a red or blue circle on the ground to show where the AoE zone was) purposely taken out? I didn't hear or see anything about that in the patch notes, but frankly I think taking them out, if it was intentional, was a bad idea because it allowed these two caster classes to use their AoE with more precision and helped tanked co-ordinate death zones for mass adds.

Does anyone know?

There is an option to turn Projected Textures on or off. It defaults off. If you find it and turn it on (and your hardware can handle it etc.) you should see the textures again.

Helps enormously on say Ignis too.

UPDATE: The projected textures on Rain of Fire etc. cannot be turned on. We had to remove them for perfomance reasons, but want to get them turned back on again soon.

UPDATE: I was mistaken. The "circle" effects on Rain of Fire had to be pulled for performance reasons, especially when multiple casters were channeling at once.

We like the gameplay of having the better-defined radii though and it is definitely something we want to get turned back on.

Turning on the option will still let you see say Ignus' effects.
