Hi all,

As more of us are either 80 or getting there fast, thought I'd post some general tips/emerging specs etc to try.

Firstly, Spell Hit cap for lvl80 - table below, shamelessly pinched from the forums:

26.232 hitrating per 1% is:

10% to be hitcapped in a raid with shadowpriest/boomkin, talents and a draenei in your party = 262

11% to be hitcapped without a draenei = 288/289

13% to be hitcapped without shadowpriest/boomkin and draenei = 340

14% to be hitcapped with only talents = 367

Next glyphs:
Glyph of Molten Armor (I can now make this btw)
Glyph of improved scorch
Glyph of frostfire bolt/fire bolt/frost bolt - dependant on spec

Specs:
Lots of variants to use - main one that seems to be topping dps is frostfire bolt 0/53/18. Typical spec below (lots of minor variations on this)
http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-talen ... de&n=Orden
Cast sequence for ffb spec - living bomb, scorch x2, ffb spam (refreshing lb etc as needed), pyroblast on hot streak proc

Edit: Given the ignite bug (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/threa ... 7815760&si if you're desperately interested), some people are refreshing scorch before casting their Hot Streak Pyro. On a stand-in-one-place-and-dps fight, rotation with low haste should make 1 living bomb, 5 ffb, refresh living bomb.

Living bomb also needs to detonate to do its full damage, so unlike scorch you have to wait until its gone before refreshing - sounds obvious, but if you've not used it before and you also have slight lag its easy to wipe it too early.

General view seems to be ffb spec is best with high crit (40+) though also probably ok with 26+ base crit with the usual raid talent increases. Below this crit, people have been finding arc/fire better (heavier into fire). Going to try ffb and will let you know how it works out with early gear and lowish crit.

AOE:
Arcane explosion seems to be bad for lots of wrath raids due to high death possibility of going in close! So sequence suggested is living bomb, flamestrike, blizzard.

Initial naxx stats to at least get ok ffb dmg: probably 1400+ dmg, 26+ un-raid-buffed crit, 230+ hit

Point to remember - ffb is not great on trash best on boss fights (i.e. don't worry being lower down list on trash), and also because v.dependant on crits, damage will vary considerably within and between fights. You get an unlucky low crit run, your dps will be low. Overall though, supposed to be good.

Haven't explored frost specs yet - if anyone has time to do this, would be great.

Also, if anyone has time to post up a linky list of pre-naxx/badge gear from heroics, tailoring and rep for mages, I will owe you chocolate... not got time to do this atm with work taking me all round the country, and I think people would find it useful.

thanks for the info Ash :D was very useful.I use frostfire spec too and even tho i am not 80,this build rocks.Nothing can beat it.All hardcore mages i have seen or asked, raid with it.There is obvious reason for this.Frostfire's normal hit is lower then fireball, but crits much higher, due to the many talents and modifiers that affects, burnout, ice shards etc and it's base mana is low.
