Ages ago I said somthing to verill about a macro that cancels the agro giving part of trix but leaves the 15% dmg, had a little look for it again and bingo!

/cast [target=mouseover] Tricks of the Trade
/in 1 /script local p="player" for i=1,40 do local _,_,_,_,_,_,_,u,_,_,s=UnitBuff(p,i) if u==p and s==59628 then CancelUnitBuff(p,i) break end end

I know almost nothing about macros so that look realy scary to me but maybe it make sense?

you rogues will have to test it out for me but the forum i got it from has nothing saying it dosnt work(MMO champ) ... heres the topic if you wish to read

http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/724 ... canceling/

let me know if it works and if it does i want all trix from now on or ill set billy on you, you dont want that now do you?

In raids rogues tend to trade tricks with each other when threat isn't an issue for the 15% damage buff, this is when this is useful.

Tricks of the Trade transfers agro to to the target (the agro that the rogue casting it does in a given time) For a non rogue which is getting tricks casted on them this is extremely useful. Remember how I killed Agu using tricks? I could safely give him tricks for the damage component and my own agro reduction with no increase to his agro levels thus making him survive... which... is not gonna happen anyway cause he'll get smacked by the boss anyway...

Ah I was under the impression the damage buff was only for the caster.
We should... really synergies these things. A kitty/Warrior (which we now have a few of) with hysteria, hero and tricks... could be pew pew.

We'll have to if we wanna kill the HCs.

Thanks Pukit, really wanted to test this macro, and now I can ^^

anyhow,
hysteria and tricks do not stack.

anyhow #2,
Tricks was designed to be "Traded" and actually blizz is modeling rogue damage by assuming a rogue is trading his tricks.
If I am not mistaken, rogues and kitties are the classes that benefit the most from tricks, should check this.

Random information,
a glyphed tricks can give a rogue around 18-22k damage in a single target situation.

Hysteria and Tricks don't stack?

When did they change that? I remember nuking sarth pre 3.1 with both up on myself... It'd be a shame if its gone.

The release notes for patch 3.1 indicate that the damage bonus of Tricks of the Trade will no longer stack with the following other buffs: Hysteria, Enrage, Wrecking Crew, Death Wish, Arcane Power, Owlkin Frenzy, The Beast Within, and Avenging Wrath. Depending on the composition of the party you are in, this may impact the glyph choices of the rogue or the buff choices of the party - you may want to keep your party members informed of this, especially in situations where you significantly outstrip the rest of the party in DPS and it is thus imperative that you transfer as much of your aggro as possible to the tank.

Why? Only reason I can think of is that you can fit more attacks in the window of time than a Mage, per se, who might not get enough spells in that time but even then I'm not sure of the maths... Could someone call Turk to math it out for us? <3

We can easily test it in a raid or on a test dummy since there are addons that tell you the benefit of the tricks buff.
But... once a rogue or a feral cat are sitting on a target, you are talking about tenths of attacks in a duration of 10 seconds.
Rogue damages with smaller numbers but hits a lot more frequently than a mage does.
A caster punches a lot more with his spells but they occur on significantly larger intervals.

Thus, yes.... a rogue gaining this buff for 10 seconds every 30 seconds can contribute a lot more dps than
a mage that can use this better once all his cooldowns are off CD.

I think it's more complicated than that but I can't be asked to do the maths even if I could so we conclude tricks are for you... On second thought maybe I'd care more if my main were a DPS but meh... Intensify! You do some maths! It's for your own good!
